Shu Vun graduated from King's College London in 2009 with a Bachelors of Law (LLB) degree (Upper Second). She was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law (Middle Temple) upon completing her Bar Vocational Course in 2010.

She has been practicing law in Brunei since 2011, embarking on a journey that continues to expand her legal expertise. Shu Vun's early years were marked by attending to predominantly undisputed matters particular in banking and she has since handled a wide spectrum of contentious cases spanning areas such as commercial, matrimonial, insurance, insolvency and tort disputes.

In court, she has acted as both lead and co-counsel in trials involving disputes in the oil and gas sector, landlord-tenant disputes, divorces, custody of children and ancillary relief matters, personal injury claims, insurance claims, contractual disputes, banking disputes, and claims for defamation. She also has experience in arbitration and mediation.

In the corporate sphere, Shu Vun has advised not just large corporations and banks but local and foreign companies from a wide variety of industries including the oil and gas sector, telecommunication sector, banking sector, insurance sector, and food and beverage sector.

For individuals and families, Shu Vun has drafted wills and is experienced in probate matters, estate planning, adoptions, and acting as a mediator for family members embroiled in disputes but who do not wish to go to court. She has also successfully obtained guardianship orders over disabled individuals, greatly assisting families in giving proper care and managing the affairs of their loved ones.

Shu Vun has also given presentations on the rights of women for Project Women and was a Law Society Council member from 2015 to 2017.

Apart from work, Shu Vun spends her free time with her family with two young children. She loves a good movie or a good book and enjoys a good workout session with her friends. She enjoys travelling and a good meal.

Having recognized the growing trend in alternative dispute resolution, Shu Vun intends to train as a certified mediator in 2024.
